Named after a ship.
"In 1966 I sailed from Livorno on the Amerigo Vespucci, visiting Central and North America, Bermuda and Tangiers. My memories and experience of this great ship were the inspiration, and this is why I named my restaurant in her honour."
Thirty-four years on, Amerigo Vespucci is one of the longest-established independent restaurants in Canary Wharf, serving Italian food as only true Italians do. The idea hasn't changed since day one: fresh pasta made in-house, seafood and steaks cooked to order, and daily specials drawn from the four corners of Italy.
It's a proper sit-down restaurant with a full bar and outside terraces over the dock, opposite the Henry Addington. Burrata and antipasti, hand-filled tortelloni, whole sea bass, Chateaubriand for two, lobster in season, and an entirely Italian wine list to match.
